  • Onions - They have layers

You know the feeling, when you discover a new artist and it just clicks. The music draws you in, but there is more - something that just keeps you listening, no matter what. This is the story of me finding the Onions - a Band that I should have told you about a lot sooner, but couldn’t. I just didn’t know they existed.

  • Recue X Jolea - Quite different

Lets have a look at what fresh fruits the Audiobaum has recently grown. It is the first review for 2015 and also a quite special occasion for me. But let me explain that a little later. Recue and Jolea, two Helsinki based electronica artists have released a fresh collab EP on the Audiobaum label. Both artists are known each for their signature style and I looked forward very much to reviewing this.

  • Most Sneaky Release In 2014 So Far

Do not let her scare you off (yet). This is most likely worthwhile. Is this really the sleeve of a cassette/tape/tonband? Yes it is. That being one of the reasons I am reviewing it, it is also the following things:

  • Manna Frost Trio - They strike again quite soon

When I found out about it, I was very excited, then I had a listen and was excited still. You should be, too. It is good: On the 12th of August this year, the Manna Frost Trio releases their new album “Overgrowth” and I feel very delighted as well as honored for that I have been given the chance to listen to it already. Thank you, Manna Frost Trio.

  • Vienna Teng - Connecting A Piano To The Internet

I have forgotten how I found Vienna Teng in the first place. It must have been while browsing the artist suggestions on Bandcamp, which I tend to do, if I find the time and have no more work to do. I often zap through the releases having a quick listen to the featured song. I know that doing so makes me miss most of the good parts in most of the releases, but there is so much to listen to and so little time.

  • Courtney Barnett And A Sea Of Split Peas

The first few minutes of Courtney Barnett were pretty hard. I had to decide whether it was the greatest thing ever or if I instantaneously wanted to go to bed. I was struggling because both was very true and both was caused by the music. No offence - I hope you will understand if you read on.

  • A Formants Nitro

Musicians that can have a laugh about themselves are the best. I don’t know if the guys over at the Manna Frost Trio are like that, but they definitely seem like it. They do not only scale their trio from one to five musicians on live gigs, but also use an anagram of their own name to title their current album “As for Martinton” - and thereby strictly speaking release their second self titled album. I am puzzled about whether they are referring to the little village in Illinois that did not even have 400 occupants in the year 2000 census but frankly I do not care.
